## Recommendation

Prioritise a remote, hands-on senior brand/marketing design role with an internal team. Use AI-assisted production as a differentiator within that established skill set. Explore a small digital-template catalogue as a secondary income experiment, within the same 40-hour weekly limit.

This is a qualitative recommendation based on the supplied CV, portfolio descriptions, intake answers and a targeted market search. It is not a psychometric score or a prediction of hiring success. Confidence is moderate in the direction; confidence is lower in finding a specific fully remote role meeting every condition within 2–3 months. This research did not establish a currently open vacancy with all of location eligibility, pay, hours and meeting expectations verified.

## Your decision criteria

- Priorities: higher income potential, reliable income and flexibility.
- More: working from home, creative work and eventually income that can scale beyond hours sold.
- Less: direct selling, client service, meetings and regular office attendance.
- Income floor: €45,000 gross annually, interpreted as an annualised target, not earnings during the first three months. Whether holiday allowance is included remains unspecified; compare offers on the same basis.
- Timing: start earning from a new direction within 2–3 months; some uneven earnings are acceptable.
- Capacity: 20+ hours weekly for exploration; total ongoing work no more than 40 hours weekly.
- Location: remote first, hybrid second, within a 50 km travel radius of Velserbroek. Exact office journeys still need checking.
- Employment schedule: regular daytime hours or genuine flexibility.

Your CV documents 18+ years across branding, campaigns, retail/POS, experiential design, digital assets and motion. It lists long agency experience, current independent work, Adobe tools, Figma and AI-assisted workflows. Dutch is listed at A2 and English at professional working proficiency. These support targeting English-working teams; they do not establish eligibility for every international employer.

The DotFish, Caroli and Maestro portfolio descriptions support breadth across identity systems, integrated campaigns and packaging. They do not independently verify all claimed commercial outcomes or your exact ownership of every deliverable. Portfolio publication dates are not assumed to be project completion dates.

## Ranked directions

| Rank | Direction | Role in your plan | Main advantage | Main conflict |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | In-house senior brand/marketing designer | Primary income | Existing experience plus a predictable employment structure | Internal stakeholders and some meetings remain |
| 2 | AI-enhanced campaign and motion designer | Specialist employment target | Builds on design, video and AI capability | Fast turnaround, performance pressure and timezone demands |
| 3 | Agency production partner on a bounded contract | Income bridge | Reuses agency relationships and production experience | Still service work; workload and renewal are uncertain |
| 4 | Presentation and visual-storytelling specialist | Selective adjacent route | Focused, remotely deliverable creative work | Revisions and some advertised pay below your floor |
| 5 | Niche template/digital-asset catalogue | Scalable side experiment | Limited one-to-one client work; reusable outputs | Distribution and income are unproven |
| 6 | NextHeading founder/operator | Longer-term business experiment | Ownership and potential scale | Sales, support and substantial unvalidated work |

The order prioritises suitability as your next main income source. Number 5 is the strongest complementary experiment for your scalable-income preference, despite ranking below employment as a source of dependable income.

### 1. In-house senior brand/marketing designer — best overall direction

**Target work:** Own or extend one company's identity, campaigns, marketing assets and visual systems as a senior individual contributor. Search across Senior Brand Designer, Senior Marketing Designer and Senior Visual Designer; titles overlap.

**Why it fits:** Your long experience can be reused without a major retraining cycle. An internal team removes the need to repeatedly win external clients. It also offers a clearer route toward predictable pay than a new business. You would still need to explain decisions and handle internal feedback.

**Best environment:** English-working, remote-first or genuinely flexible hybrid, daytime European collaboration, limited travel, and a hands-on role rather than responsibility for a large team. Choose output ownership over management seniority.

**Evidence:** Restate's indexed employer listing describes a remote European brand role that explicitly includes the Netherlands, initially a paid 50% contract engagement, with minimal travel. That demonstrates an adjacent flexible model, but its compensation is undisclosed and the current application page could not be independently read beyond its JavaScript shell. It is a lead to verify, not a confirmed match. [Restate listing](https://jobs.ashbyhq.com/restate/1192a1a4-6574-4c54-afe8-356235f82dad/?embed=js)

**What could disqualify a role:** Regular on-site events, several office days, heavy stakeholder management, country restrictions or compensation below the floor. Founding-designer roles can offer autonomy but may have high ambiguity and broad technical expectations.

**Income/timing judgement:** This is the most defensible main-income search, but €45,000 and a 2–3-month start are screening goals, not verified forecasts. Ask for the pay band and work pattern early.

**First experiment:** Build a concise portfolio sequence around DotFish, Caroli and a strong retail/packaging example. For each, show the brief, your contribution, system of deliverables and evidence of results. Use it in five carefully screened applications rather than a broad generic application batch.

### 2. AI-enhanced campaign and motion designer

**Target work:** Hands-on campaign production across static and short-form motion, using AI to improve exploration, adaptation and quality. Prefer internal creative teams; service agencies are a secondary option.

**Why it fits:** Your CV already combines creative judgement, Adobe execution, video and AI workflows. The immediate task is demonstrating repeatable capability, rather than collecting a new title or a long qualification.

**Evidence:** Superside's employer description combines brand, campaign and digital design with everyday AI-tool use. However, its application board lists the Graphic Designer opening under LATAM/contractor. This supports the existence of the skill combination; it is not a Netherlands-eligible job recommendation. [Role description](https://careers.superside.com/jobs/ai-creative) · [Application board](https://jobs.lever.co/superside?workplaceType=remote)

**Gap to close:** One process case study showing the brief, several outputs, human corrections, consistent branding and actual time spent. Do not invent productivity percentages. For performance-design roles, explain testing logic without claiming campaign results you cannot substantiate.

**Risk:** High production volume and cross-timezone feedback can undermine your desired schedule. “AI” does not automatically imply higher pay or better working conditions.

**First experiment:** Produce one coordinated campaign: a key visual, several static adaptations and a short motion execution. Document what AI did and what your judgement changed. Use that same case study for direction 1.

### 3. Agency production partner on a bounded contract

**Target work:** Support one or two agencies as a reliable senior production/design partner, ideally behind an account manager who owns the end-client relationship. A clearly scoped recurring allocation is preferable to unlimited design-on-demand.

**Why it fits:** Your agency background could shorten the route to credible conversations. Fewer intermediary relationships may mean less direct selling than building an entirely new client base. This is an inference from your experience, not evidence that former contacts currently have budgets.

**Commercial boundaries:** Defined availability, deliverables, revision limits and one briefing contact. State whether meetings count toward the allocation. Recurring work is not guaranteed employment.

**Income:** No defensible rate for you was established in this research. €45,000 invoiced is not equivalent to €45,000 employee gross pay: business costs, non-billable work, leave and benefits must be considered. Do not accept a revenue figure as an income comparison.

**First experiment:** Prepare a one-page capability offer and, when you choose to send it, approach three trusted agency contacts about a small paid pilot. No outreach has been sent as part of this assessment.

**Two-to-three-month outlook:** Potentially useful as a bridge if relationships are warm. Less attractive as your final destination because client-service and sales demands remain.

### 4. Presentation and visual-storytelling specialist

**Target work:** Presentation systems, campaign proposals, internal communications and visually clear sales materials. Prefer in-house work or subcontracting with a single briefing contact.

**Why it fits:** Your art-direction and visual-storytelling background transfers. PowerPoint/Google Slides production, editable templates and data-chart work need demonstration; those are not fully evidenced by the supplied CV and portfolio descriptions.

**Evidence:** Storm Ideas' indexed employer page advertises Europe-remote presentation design but lists up to €36,000 for a full-time contractor. The result is old and the live page could not be fetched; use it as a caution about compensation, not an active lead. [Employer page](https://stormideas.com/careers/presentation-designer)

**Risk:** Remoteness alone does not compensate for low pay. Last-minute revisions can also conflict with predictable hours.

**First experiment:** Create a ten-slide editable case-study deck with reusable masters, one clear chart and speaker-independent narrative. Test whether prospective employers or agency partners value it at a rate consistent with your floor before narrowing your positioning.

### 5. Niche template/digital-asset catalogue

**Target work:** Original, reusable campaign kits, presentation systems or retail-promotion templates for a specific customer group you understand. Start with one tightly defined use case, not a large general catalogue.

**Why it fits:** This is the clearest route among the six toward earning repeatedly from an existing design asset while limiting bespoke client service. Your relevant advantage is understanding real brand and campaign requirements.

**Evidence:** Canva operates a template-creator programme with application/acceptance and usage-related royalties. This confirms a distribution mechanism; it does not establish likely earnings for you. [Canva Template Creators](https://www.canva.com/creators/templates/)

**Reality check:** Treat this as a business with creation, discovery, maintenance and possible support work. I found no basis for expecting it to reliably replace €45,000 within 2–3 months. Initial sales and sustained income are different milestones.

**First experiment:** Build one small original collection, such as a coordinated campaign kit for an independent wellness or food business. Test usefulness with three intended users, then test one distribution channel. Use new work or assets you control, not client-owned designs.

**Go/no-go evidence:** Look for actual usage, paid purchases or repeat requests from relevant users. Compliments alone do not establish demand. Cap the experiment before expanding the catalogue.

### 6. NextHeading founder/operator

**Target work:** Turn the career-direction concept we have prototyped into a service/product, initially with manually prepared assessments.

**Why it fits:** You are already shaping its positioning, interface and customer experience. There is potential to reuse a process and eventually scale beyond hours sold.

**Why it ranks sixth as an income replacement:** We currently have a wireframe and one developing assessment, not evidence of paying demand, delivery economics or acquisition costs. Early work would include finding users, research, quality control and support—several of the activities you want less of.

**Income/timing:** A first paid pilot within 2–3 months is a hypothesis worth testing. A reliable €45,000 personal income is not supported by current evidence. At the proposed €29 price, even 100 purchases would be €2,900 in gross receipts before costs and any applicable tax obligations; sales are not profit.

**First experiment:** Test whether three people outside your immediate supportive circle will pay for a clearly scoped manual assessment and identify a concrete decision it helped them make. Do not build the full automated backend before testing this.

## Market evidence that changes the decision

- **General graphic design is not automatically a growth market.** UWV lists graphic designers among occupations with weaker prospects. Use a specific commercial positioning and strong evidence of work rather than assuming seniority alone solves demand. [UWV](https://www.uwv.nl/nl/arbeidsmarktinformatie/kansen-beroep/minst-kansrijke-beroepen)
- **An excellent craft match can be a poor lifestyle match.** Synthesia's indexed Senior Brand Designer, Experiential listing aligns with your physical/digital background but specifies travel across Europe and the US, potentially APAC. It therefore conflicts with your 50 km travel preference. Current availability is not confirmed by the JavaScript-only live page. [Synthesia](https://jobs.ashbyhq.com/synthesia/75c90455-75c8-44e0-ab38-887120dbb1d0)
- **Do not equate hybrid with occasional office attendance.** A recent Design Bridge & Partners Amsterdam listing reproduced by Digital Jobs describes roughly four office days. The employer application page is accessible, but its retrieved text did not include the office policy, so confirm that condition directly rather than treating the repost as definitive. [Listing and policy text](https://www.digitaljobs.com/job/designbridge-senior-designer-amsterdam-design-bridge-and-partners/) · [Employer application](https://job-boards.greenhouse.io/designbridge/jobs/8188588)
- **Evidence quality matters.** Closed roles, location-mismatched listings, undated reposts and unexplained salary estimates have not been treated as confirmed opportunities. No broad salary band or probability-of-success score is claimed in this assessment.

## What I would deprioritise

AI consultancy as the main move: it usually asks you to sell expertise, facilitate discussions and manage clients; those conflict with your preferences. Creative operations leadership similarly shifts toward coordination and meetings. A full UX/product-design pivot would require evidence beyond your listed courses and may slow a 2–3-month income goal. Experiential design remains a portfolio strength, but travel-heavy delivery roles should not be the default target.

## A practical 30-day plan

**Week 1 — Clarify the offer (about 20 hours).** Spend 8 hours tightening three portfolio cases, 6 hours screening employers and roles, 4 hours creating two CV/profile variants, and 2 hours defining one template experiment. Frame yourself as a senior hands-on designer with AI-assisted production capability. Retain your real role titles in employment history.

**Week 2 — Show current capability (about 22 hours).** Spend 10 hours on the AI-assisted campaign case study, 6 hours on five targeted applications, 3 hours preparing an agency-partner offer and 3 hours defining the smallest useful template collection. Avoid unpaid client-specific production assignments disguised as tests.

**Week 3 — Collect market feedback (about 22 hours).** Allocate 8 hours to applications, interviews and follow-up; 6 hours to portfolio refinements informed by responses; 4 hours to possible paid-pilot discussions; and 4 hours to the template prototype. Track responses and reasons, not just application totals.

**Week 4 — Choose using evidence (about 20 hours).** Spend 8 hours on interviews or a paid pilot, 4 hours on a second focused application batch, 4 hours testing the template with intended users, and 4 hours reviewing results. If there is no employer response, revise the positioning and eligibility filters before making more assets. If the template has no demand signal, stop expanding it.

**Months 2–3:** Concentrate on the route producing interviews or paid work. Aim for first earnings, then assess whether the arrangement can sustain the income floor. Choose one scalable-income experiment; do not attempt a template catalogue and NextHeading launch simultaneously unless the main-income work leaves capacity.

## Income and hours: useful arithmetic

€45,000 annually equals €3,750 gross per month over 12 payments, before resolving any separate allowances. If an employer quotes a 40-hour full-time equivalent, reaching €45,000 actual pay at 32 hours requires €56,250 FTE; at 36 hours it requires €50,000 FTE. These are arithmetic equivalents, not market salary estimates.

A 32–36-hour role could leave 4–8 hours for a small asset business while respecting your 40-hour cap. If the chosen job needs 40 hours, do not assume another 10 hours of business-building fits your stated constraints. Prefer the income foundation until capacity changes.

## What remains uncertain

Current proficiency in advanced motion, presentation production and developer-oriented design is not demonstrated fully by the materials reviewed. Work-authorisation arrangements, exact office routes, compensation, meeting load and overtime expectations need verification for each employer. Financial runway was not quantified, so there is no recommendation to exhaust savings or abandon existing income. The right to reuse historical client assets also has not been assessed.

## AI Defensibility / Longevity — added 25 September 2026

Provisional task-based NextHeading judgements, not probabilities of job survival. Suggested importance: 4/5; editable on the dashboard. Original recommendation order is retained.

### Direction 1: 3/5

Brand judgement, business context and responsibility for a coherent identity support the human contribution. Routine asset creation and resizing remain exposed.

**Strengthen this direction:** Prioritise ownership of brand decisions and complex briefs; show why your decisions improved the result.

### Direction 2: 3/5

Art direction, quality control and coherent campaigns can complement AI. Image, video and adaptation tasks are increasingly exposed; knowing today's tools alone is not a durable advantage.

**Strengthen this direction:** Demonstrate briefing, evaluation and brand consistency across a full campaign, rather than output volume alone.

### Direction 3: 2/5

Repeatable production and adaptation are relatively easy to substitute or compress with AI. Trusted delivery and complex production constraints help, but a bounded contract does not protect future demand.

**Strengthen this direction:** Build specialist production knowledge, rigorous quality assurance and ownership of difficult delivery constraints.

### Direction 4: 3/5

Structuring a persuasive argument and checking evidence need context and judgement. Generic slide generation and formatting face substantial AI competition.

**Strengthen this direction:** Show discovery, narrative decisions and fact checking, not only polished slides.

### Direction 5: 2/5

Generic digital assets face rapid generation and imitation. Niche expertise, a trusted audience and a maintained system can help, but none has yet been validated for this offer.

**Strengthen this direction:** Test a specific recurring customer need and build a differentiated, maintained resource rather than a generic asset catalogue.

### Direction 6: 2/5

Generic career suggestions and report generation are easy to reproduce with AI. Verified research, trusted delivery and useful decision support could differentiate NextHeading, but that advantage is not yet proven.

**Strengthen this direction:** Validate paid outcomes, source quality and repeatable assessment standards before claiming a durable advantage.
